"The City of Champions", as Edmonton is sometimes known, is home to several professional sports teams including the Edmonton Oilers (NHL) and Edmonton Eskimos (CFL). The city has a massive amateur sports community as well, boasting literally hundreds of sports facilities including football, baseball, and soccer fields, hockey arenas, rugby pitches, indoor soccer centres, cycling and running tracks, pools and gymnasiums. There are also several golf courses in the city or within a short drive.
Edmontonians enjoy a lively arts and culture scene. The city hosts a plethora of events and festivals throughout the year and is often referred to as, "Canada's Festival City". Some of these festivals include The Edmonton Fringe Theatre Festival, The Edmonton Folk Music Festival, Edmonton International Street Performers Festival, Taste of Edmonton, and Festival of Trees to name a small few. The Capital Region is home to many live music venues, museums, galleries, and restaurants serving cuisine from around the world. There is never a shortage of things to do in this wonderful city.
